Terms of Service
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Welcome to Subtys. These terms explain the deal between you and us when you use our website at subtys.com, the Subtys browser extension and everything that goes with them. We call all of that the Service. When you create an account or use the Service, you agree to these terms. If they don't work for you, please don't use the Service.
Who can use Subtys
You need to be at least 16, or the age of digital consent where you live, to use Subtys. By using it you confirm you meet that age and that the details you give us are true.
What Subtys does
Subtys shows two lines of subtitles on YouTube videos, lets you save words and phrases, sort them into decks, and study them with spaced-repetition review and games. Subtitles can be translated right inside your own browser using public translation endpoints, or through our servers when you spend part of a paid translation allowance.
Your account
- You sign up with an email address and confirm it with a one-time code.
- Anything that happens under your account is your responsibility.
- Keep access to your email safe, and tell us if you notice activity you didn't start.
- We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms.
Plans, tokens and billing
- There is a free plan and a few paid plans, all described on our Pricing page.
- Paid plans give you a monthly allowance of translation tokens and higher deck limits. Unused tokens don't carry over.
- Prices are shown in EUR and don't include taxes, which are worked out at checkout.
- Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle is the seller on your receipt and looks after billing, tax and refunds, so your purchase also follows Paddle's buyer terms.
- Subscriptions renew on their own at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, and you keep access until the period you paid for ends.
- Refunds work the way we describe in our Refund Policy.
Playing fair
Please don't:
- copy, resell or rent out the Service without our okay;
- take the Service apart to pull out its source code, unless the law clearly lets you;
- hammer the Service with bots, scrape it, or put an unfair load on our servers;
- work around token allowances, deck limits, rate limits or other usage controls;
- use the Service to break the law or step on someone else's rights.
Other services we work with
Subtys works alongside other companies, including YouTube, Google's translation endpoints, dictionary providers and Paddle. We're not part of those companies and we're not responsible for them, so your use of them follows their own rules. Videos and subtitles belong to the people who made them, and Subtys neither hosts nor owns that content.
Your content
The words, phrases, decks and notes you save stay yours. You just let us store and process them so we can run the Service for you. You're responsible for what you add.
Our content
The Service itself, including its software, design and branding, belongs to Subtys and is protected by law. These terms only give you the right to use the Service, nothing more.
No guarantees
We give you Subtys as it is and as it's available, without promises of any kind. Machine translations and definitions can be wrong or incomplete, so please don't lean on them when getting things exactly right really matters. We also can't promise the Service will always be online or free of bugs.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, Subtysisn't liable for indirect or knock-on losses, or for lost data, that come from using the Service. If we ever are liable, the most we owe you is what you paid us in the twelve months before the issue came up.
Ending things
You can stop using Subtys and delete your account whenever you want. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if the law requires it. The parts that should naturally outlive the account, like the sections on our content and on liability, keep applying.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms now and then. When something important changes we'll update the date at the top and, where it makes sense, let you know. If you keep using the Service after a change, that means you're okay with the new terms.
Which laws apply
These terms follow the laws of Ukraine. Whatever consumer rights you already have where you live still stand.
